Alyce Cannon was a graduate of Memphis State University, an employee of the University Bursar's Office for many years, and a long time supporter of both The University of Memphis and the College of Communication & Fine Arts. After she left the University she opened Great Frame Up in Germantown. Alyce encouraged young artists to present their work in the best light. One of the ways she did this was to heavily discount the framing costs or do the work gratis. It is appropriate that this award is in her memory as Alyce always encouraged young artists to “just get out there” and show their work.
