SCHOLARSHIPS
THE DEPARTMENT OF ART

ELIZABETH AND HAROLD ROBINSON SCHOLOARSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP FUND
This
scholarship and fellowship fund was created to honor the parents of Mr.
J. Michael Robinson and to assist the University of Memphis in the
recruitment and retention of outstanding scholars. The Robinson fund
provides for undergraduate scholarships (4-year maximum) and/or
graduate fellowships (3-year maximum) for fully-qualified students
enrolled full-time in undergraduate or graduate programs in Department
of Architecture, Art, Music, or Theatre & Dance. Scholarships will
be awarded based on academic and creative achievement. Financial need
may be considered. All students who meet the academic qualifications

DEAN'S ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR STUDENTS
This
award goes to the undergraduate student with the highest grade point
average for the year within the college. The winner receives a $250
check and a plaque. This award is presented at the University’s Honors
Assembly in April of each year. For further details, please contact

submission deadline. The decision is verified by the CCFA Graduation
Analyst.]
DEAN'S CREATIVE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR STUDENTS
During
spring semester, each Department Chair selects an undergraduate
applicant for this award. These chosen applicants present their work at
a Dean’s Administrative Council meeting in March. The winner is decided
by a vote from these meeting participants. The winner receives a $250
check and a plaque. Other applicants are designated as runner ups and
each one receives a $100 check and a plaque. Awards are presented at
the University’s Honors Assembly in April of each year. For further

GRADUATE SCHOOL PERFORMANCE AND ART PURCHASE AWARDS
Annual
performance awards of $500 are given to graduate students from the
College of Communication and Fine Arts for creative achievement in the
areas of music, film, and theatre and dance. The College accepts
nominations from the departments of Communication, Music and Theatre
& Dance. These candidate names are reviewed by the College Council
and then forwarded to the Graduate School for final selections. These
award recipients are notified at the end of March. An artwork, chosen
by the outside juror for the Annual Juried Student Exhibit
(January/February), is purchased by The Graduate School. Deadline:

THE LITTLEJOHN
SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually to a full-time graduate student in Art
with a concentration in Painting or Sculpture.
THE DONALD AND MARY VAUGHN ART SCHOLARSHIP provides a scholarship in art to a freshman of academic merit in academic need.
THE
ART DIRECTORS CLUB OF MEMPHIS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually to an
outstanding Art major with a concentration in Graphic Design and a GPA
of at least 3.0. Selection is based on portfolio review.
THE
DANA D. JOHNSON ART SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually to an outstanding
sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in Art with a concentration in
Fine Arts, Art History, or Art Education. A minimum cumulative GPA of
3.0 is required, and preference is given to a student with exceptional
portfolio work if recipient is majoring in studio art.
THE
FRANCE FALLS AUSTIN SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to an incoming freshman
pursing an undergraduate degree in art. Preference is given to a
student with exceptional portfolio work.
THE MARY MARGARET ROSS
ART ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually by the Art Alumni Chapter to
an outstanding Art major with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
TALENT
BASED SCHOLARSHIPS IN VISUAL ARTS are awarded annually to incoming
freshmen pursuing degrees in Art. Preference is given to students with
exceptional talent and potential; portfolio presentation, artistic
background, personal character, and intelligence and scholarship.
Applicants must complete a standard departmental scholarship form, and
will be notified of dates for portfolio presentation (usually in the
late fall of a student’s senior high school year but continuing until
all scholarships are awarded). These scholarships are renewable for
four years. Recipients must maintain full-time status, follow the
recommended sequence of Art courses, complete 30 hours of service to
the Department of Art each Semester, and maintain a 2.8 GPA.
AD FED COMMUNIGRAPHICS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a Junior of Senior Graphic Design major with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
MEMPHIS-GERMANTOWN
ART LEAGUE AWARD is awarded to a student who demonstrated exceptional
artistic abilities in any discipline within the Art Department.
