UNDERGRADUATE | FOUNDATION STUDIES

UNDERGRADUATE COURSEWORK

INTRODUCTION

The undergraduate art and design foundations courses concentrate on the development of sensory awareness, the ability to think responsively, and the visualization of thought through the manipulation of materials and processes. A comprehensive and mixed media course of study ensures investigative exposure to the widest variety of methods.

The foundation program is the prerequisite for all upper-level studio courses. This studio-based coursework provides the vocabulary, as well as a broad range of information and experience, fundamental to all areas of art and design. The teaching staff for the foundation program is drawn from the department’s studio disciplines.
